Bollywood is a treasure trove of comedy and cinema that has spanned over a century. The film's plot is loosely based on the real life events that inspired the novel, with Bachchan being cast in his then trademark role of a master spy. The film marked Bachchan's upcoming 100th film, and was also Juhi Chawla's debut. The film was released worldwide in different languages with different subtitles under the promotion of Akshay Kumar.
